Dear Friends,
May our risen Saviour’s blessings be on you and all your family. We are continually excited, as we pray for each of you.
We look forward to what God has in store for Church of the Saviour in this coming year.
This past year, Church of the Saviour experienced growth in the following ways:
- chartered and began a Preschool that has an enrollment of 25.
- attendance has grown to over 500
- continued to minister to our sister church in Gulfport, Mississippi
- launched a new strategy to reach the lost in Wayne County by becoming a House of Prayer
- exceeded the Faith Promise Pledges Goal of $70,000 to $85,415
For 29 years this God has used Church of the Saviour as an effective tool to reach the community of Wayne County and the surrounding area.
We are continually growing as a community that accepts, loves, challenges, and works together through prayer and creful study of Scripture. As Senior Pastor I am proud of our congregation. What really encourages my heart as a pastor is to see Christ’s likeness develop within those who call Church of the Saviour home.
For the past two years the Lord has put it on my hearts to lead Church of the Saviour in the direction of becoming a “House of Prayer”, and for each of us to experience personal cleansing through Jesus Christ.
When Jesus said that His Father’s House was to be a House of Prayer, He was talking about temple cleansing. The Bible also tells us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. My vision is for each oneof us to experience this temple cleansing in our lives; for each of us to become a vessel that is purified; for obstacles and distractions to be swept away so that we can focus on God’s purpose for our lives.
Each Fall we have been involved in Purpose Driven Life Campaign and now this year we have completed the 40 Days of Prayer. During the campaign, we studied and practiced Prayer in many different ways. We looked at prayer in worship (worship), prayer together (fellowship), daily living an attitude of prayer (discipleship), praying to serve others and interceding for others healing and needs to be met in Christ (ministry), and praying for the lost to come to Christ (evangelism).
If you are reading this and you are a member of Church of the Saviour, I want to challenge you to become an individual House of Prayer by committing to the following:
- To sign-up for a Prayer Bible Elective that meets Sunday Mornings on Monday or Wednesday nights where you can work on your spiritual skills
- To connect yourself in a Prayer Bible Fellowship (which are small groups that meet in individuals homes)
- To make a daily tiem to spend with the Lord
- To earnestly pray and explore the areas where God can use you at Churchof the Saviour
